Day 1
Travel from the Pacific Coast to the Gulf of Carpentaria and experience the true Australian Outback for three days.
Tour through the Atherton Tablelands, known for its rich agriculture and rainforest. Stop at Lake Barrine – option of morning tea available. Visit Millstream Falls, the widest falls in Australia. Enjoy an exclusive visit to Woodleigh Cattle Station for a traditional outback BBQ lunch and guided tour of the pioneer homestead. Journey through Forty Mile Scrub National Park and view the unique bottle trees.
Take in a guided tour of the mysterious and majestic Undara Lava Tubes, one of the world's largest and best preserved tube sites. Enjoy overnight accommodation at Undara Lodge in authentic 19th century railway carriages.
Day 2
Be awoken by the calls of the Kookaburras and trek down to the Ringers Camp at Undara Lodge, to experience an “Aussie” bush breakfast.
Pass through the township of Georgetown, once known for its gold. Stop at Croydon and view the historic remnants of a boomtown of 30,000 in its hey day. Enjoy a lunch at the Croydon Pub with its true outback hospitality. Board the Gulflander Train at “Critters Camp” and rattle down the tracks to the historic town of Normanton. Take pleasure in a town tour of Karumba – well known for its fishing. Be inspired by the sunset over the Gulf of Carpentaria while enjoying chilled champagne and local prawns. Spend an evening at the Karumba Lodge.
Day 3
Visit Latara Resort, Georgetown, for lunch and swim. In three days you will have travelled 1,600 kilometres, met interesting outback people and heard amusing stories about this rugged and beautiful outback region.
